The Center for Studies on Ancient Diversity: Prehistory, Antiquity, and the Middle Ages brings together historians, philosophers, literary scholars, philologists, linguists, social anthropologists, and archaeologists at the Institute of Philosophy and Human Sciences of Unicamp. From a critical standpoint regarding hegemonic processes representation, it aims to contemplate Ancient societies in light of their diversity, critically addressing both homogenizing reconstructions and those that approach diverse historical experiences through inflexible and exogenous parameters. To do so, it reconsiders spatial frameworks and human interactions within the space and time of societies that have had or still have a controversial relationship with modernity.

The comparative, interdisciplinary, synchronous, and diachronic investigation carried out at CEDA aims to contribute to the participation of the past in critical reflection on possible futures from a planetary, inclusive, and supportive perspective.
