Affiliated with INdisciplinary, Critical or Transgressive Applied Linguistics (MOITA LOPES, 2006; PENNYCOOK, 2001), the research group IndisciPLAr seeks to contribute to the construction of an area of Portuguese as an Additional Language (PAL) that is politically engaged and responsive to contemporary social demands (BIZON, DINIZ, 2018). To this end, it focuses on subjects - socio-historically conceived - who do not have Portuguese as their first language and who move, physically and / or symbolically, through spaces where the learning of Portuguese can be an important resource - although not enough - for the production and democratization of mobility and multi-territoriality (BIZON, 2013). Involved with the construction of an alternative globalization (B. SANTOS, 1995; M. SANTOS, 2000) through linguistic policies aimed at multiplicities and based on multilingual bases, the group calls to dialogue other voices beyond the north-western axis, as a form of resistance to the neoliberal movement of globalization and internationalization. Among these voices are those of university students - especially those from non-central countries -, crisis migrants (children, adolescents, or adults), deaf and indigenous Brazilians. IndisciPLAr's actions focus on different facets of linguistic policies, less or more explicit, in their relations with identity issues, including teacher training, curricula, teaching materials, assessments and literacy practices (STREET, 2014). In addition to the training of teachers and researchers at undergraduate and graduate levels, the group acts in the planning, implementation and evaluation of public policies and language policies that directly or indirectly concern PAL, including the production of language policy instruments, such as curricula and teaching materials.
