PPG-LA

The Post-Graduate Program in Applied Linguistics (PPG-LA) qualifies lecturers and investigators in Applied Linguistics with special attention to the interdisciplinary of language in use as an object of inquiry as well as to the emergence of new subject matters in language studies, valuing transformative and ethical teaching and research in the following tracks:

  • – Language and Linguistic Education
  • – Languages, Cultures, Identities
  • – Languages and Technologies
  • – Language and Translation

Each of these lines of inquiry can be exploited in relation to two concentration areas, that is, Education and Society, which offers a varied scope of investigations on the emerging issues at the interfaces of language/literacy teaching, sociocultural identities, intercultural connections and technology/media appropriations.

The program is free for both Brazilian and foreign students. Our selection process starts in July each year. For foreign students, it is necessary to submit a research project and evidence of proficiency in Brazilian Portuguese (Celpe-Bras Certificate). It is advisable to contact a prospective supervisor from the faculty prior to submission.
