I have been a professor in the Department of Applied Linguistics at the Institute for Language Studies, Unicamp, in the area of Translation, since 2007. My research experience is in Translation Theories and Practices: ethical and aesthetic issues of translation, literary translation, translation and human rights (history and memory), translation and psychoanalysis.
I am interested in discussing translation as a process in which the translator’s know-how is not reduced to a collection of knowledge accumulated in her experience of translating, but, in view of the pitfalls of understanding vis-à-vis experience, I take this know-how as stemming from a not-knowing-how that requires availability as disposition, work of time, attention to time instant, the unexpected and the improvisation of the temporal structure of scansion.
